For over 15 years John has taught classes ranging from Office software to Microsoft certification classes. He has been a Microsoft Certified Trainer since June 2000 and has worked for New Horizons in Indianapolis since August 2002. He has taught Windows Server (NT4, 2000, 2003, 2008, 2012), Exchange (5.5, 2000, 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013), and SQL Server (7.0, 2000, 2005, 2008, 2012).

In his over 20 years as a consultant he has designed and created databases for companies such as Columbia House, Digital Audio Disc Corporation, and Eli Lilly. He helped establish the email customer service department at Columbia House and has performed network installations, server management, and client troubleshooting for companies like Marathon Oil, Tri-Aerospace, and Rose Hulman Ventures. He has also been known to perform random acts of network magic for smaller family owned businesses.

Additionally, he has written custom training manuals for both Kroger and Ford Motor Company, as well as writing questions for the SQL Server 2012 and Exchange 2013 Measure Up practice exams.

John was also a member of the Indiana Army National Guard from 1987 - 1993.
